EGSC women’s basketball finishes third in GCAA

The 2020-2021 East Georgia State College women’s basketball season has come to an optimistic end. Bobcat Nation was represented valiantly by the Lady Bobcats as they persisted through the pandemic, quarantines, injuries, a delayed start of the season, game postponements/cancelations, etc. The end result was with full of accomplishments.
The Lady Bobcats earned a winning overall record of 13-8, which means that they won more games than last year while playing five less games. The season also included an eight-game win streak that was the longest in school history.
“I am extremely proud of the competitive spirit displayed by our team this year,” said head Coach Theo Howard. “The sophomores have etched a legacy that the strong core of freshmen can build upon next year.”
Howard is also excited about the recruiting class coming in next year.
“It will be one to watch and cheer for throughout the entire community!”
Howard has raised the bar for expectations in his first year at the helm of the program. Howard’s goal is to establish EGSC women’s basketball as a commonly ranked Top 25 team in the country.
The Lady Bobcats finished third in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). Ka’Shay Hankerson was named to the first all-region team, Milana Holmes was named to the GCAA all-tournament team, and Kayla Garrett and Esperanza Castro were named Academic All-Conference.
