Trap, Skeet & Sporting Clays
Open to 7th-12th Graders Only
This a separate event from the 4-H Modified Trap Shotgun (Project SAFE) program held in the spring. The registration fee this year is $300 and will be made in two payments: $150 due 9/30, and $150 due by 10/28. This registration fee covers the cost for you to shoot in both state competitions and team tshirt. Email jakynjen@uga.edu to have the registration material emailed to you.
Cotton Boll & Consumer Judging
Cotton Boll & Consumer Judging is competitive judging contest where 4-H’ers learn about cotton and promote it through commercials or advertisements. 4-H’ers are also required to judge four classes of items or services. During the competition, 4-H'ers must make the best decision for a consumer based on their specific needs and situation. The first practice will be Tuesday, September 20 3:30-5:00pm at the 4-H Clubhouse in Swainsboro. The district Contest is Thursday, October 27 in Lyons. The registration fee is $25 and includes all materials, tshirt, and transportation and meals at the district contest. For more information on the team, call 237-1226 or email lesliemd@uga.edu.
Gourd Decorating Workshop
WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 21

WHERE: 4-H Clubhouse, 220 S. Circle Dr., Swainsboro
HOW MUCH: FREE!!!
Come get a start of your entry for the Jaycee Fair Gourd Decorating Contest! Gourds will be provided and each participant will get to pick their own. General craft supplies like paint, glue, scissors, etc. will be provided. Bring your own ideas, creativity, and any special materials or items you want to use! Participants will get to take their gourds home to finish or submit them in the fair. Signup by calling 237-1226 by Monday, September 19. Workshop is limited to the first 20 to register!
Georgia National Fair Exhibits, Contests & Activities
The Georgia National Fair in Perry will be held October 6-16 and offers a variety of ways that students can participate! Educational exhibits and contests for 4-H'ers range anywhere from mini-booths and cooking, to dish gardens and scarecrows! Age eligibility varies by contest, but there are options for 4th-12th grade students. To register, contact us by Monday, September 19. Completed exhibits must be delivered to the Extension Office by Wednesday, September 28 at 5pm. Contact the Extension Office for a complete list of contests.

Georgia 4-H Holiday Card Contest
Design a December holiday card for the Georgia 4-H Foundation, which will be sent to 4-H supporters to express gratitude and well wishes. Entries must be original drawings, paintings, etc. Digitally created entries will not be accepted. CONTEST TIP: The more colorful and creative, the better! The County-winning card will be selected as our holiday card for donors and volunteers. The state contest-winning card will receive the top prize of $100! The contest is open to any 4th-12th grade 4-H'er. Deadline to submit entries to the Emanuel County 4-H Office is Friday, September 30, 2022!
Indoor Archery
Registration for the Emanuel County 4-H Indoor Archery program begins SOON! 4th-12th Graders may shoot a compound or recurve bow. It is recommended that all youth provide their own equipment, but a limited number team bows are available for use. Cost is $75 and includes state competition registration and team t-shirt. Practice begins October 30th! Registration packets will be available soon. Contact the 4-H Office to have it emailed to you!
