Emanuel County Schools partners with outside company for substitutes

Emanuel County Schools recently entered into a contract with a company named ESS to provide substitute services for the district.

ESS is a comprehensive management solution that handles the entirety of the substitute program from hiring and training to placement and management. The company itself partners with more than 750 schools in 29 states with more than 55,000 employees. Within Georgia alone, they partner with 36 school districts and three RESAs.

According to Terri Burke, Director of Human Resources for Emanuel County Schools, there are many advantages for the substitutes in the system being involved with ESS. Some of those advantages are:

• ESS offers weekly pay.

• ESS offers health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.

• ESS offers 401(k) retirement and unemployment eligibility.

• ESS offers performance incentives and appreciation gifts.

She went on to say that ESS will partner with the community to engage and recruit individuals living and working within the area. Potential employees will be screened to ensure they meet qualifications. Once hired, the individual will receive any necessary training in order to begin work immediately. Emanuel County is about a month out from implementation of the program.
