Emanuel County Superior Court consider ll bills of indictment

The October 2022 term of the Emanuel County Grand Jury convened Friday, October 14, 2022, with The Honorable Tommy J. Smith presiding. The grand jurors elected Dianne Lawson to serve as foreperson, Pamela Carr to serve as assistant foreperson, and Corine Hampton to serve as clerk. The grand jurors and the bailiff, Mary Sue Avery, were sworn by Judge Smith to their duties. The grand jury consider 11 bills of indictment, involving 12 defendants, submitted to it by the office of the District Attorney, returning 10 true bills and one no bill.

John Albert Fleming was indicted on two counts of sale of methamphetamine.


Timothy Johnson was indicted on one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree.


Jacob Joel Iacoviello was indicted on one count of aggravated battery and one count of unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.


David Michael Williams was indicted on one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, cruelty to children in the second degree, driving under the influence, discharge of gun near highway or street, discharging a firearm under the influence, driving without a license, possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer.


Cavan Thomas Sellers was indicted on one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.


Charles Edward Fields was indicted on one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction of an officer, possession of drug-related objects, failure to wear seat safety belt.


Shaquille Davalle Copeland was indicted on one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.


Wyatt Cameron Adams was indicted on one count of battery, family violence.


Robert Blalock Hawkins was indicted on one count of obstruction of an officer.


LaPortia Mishon Johnson and Lyndon Bernard Johnson were indicted on one count each of child molestation and cruelty to children in the second degree.
