FFA teams compete at Area 4 CDE

Updated: Jan 4, 2022

ECI FFA’s Environmental and Natural Resources (ENR) and quiz teams recently competed in an Area 4 career development event (CDE).

According to information released by the school, the Environmental and Natural Resources CDE provides competing students an opportunity to gain awareness and demonstrate knowledge in areas that affect air, soil, and water. Competitors interpret data, use measuring devices in the field, and work through real-life scenarios involving environmental threats in pursuit of scoring the highest as a team and individual.

ECI FFA’s junior team of Colt Freeman, Lawson Frye, Jacob McBride, and Lola Walden received a team score of 530 and a team rank of fourth while the chapter’s senior team of Lawson Mercer, Jase Graham, Jake Grimm, and Spencer Lawrence received a team score of 727 and a team rank of third.

On the other hand, the quiz CDE is designed to develop personal growth and premier leadership in young members. Through this event, competitors gain recognition for their efforts in learning FFA history and facts as well as parliamentary procedure.

ECI’s Amelia Meadows competed in the junior division and Allie Rigdon competed in the senior division. They competed with 34 others against quizzers.

Although their scores weren’t high enough to move them into the next round, ECI FFA is still extremely proud of the work the students and advisors put forth and looks forward to cheering them on again next year.
