Fugitive accused in Williams Street shooting apprehended

According to Swainsboro Police Department, the man allegedly connected to a shooting at 218 Williams Street two months ago is now in custody.

Specifically, Jonathan Clarence Tillman of Swainsboro is accused of shooting another man, Kentrel Wadley, on the porch of his residence around 4 a.m. on July 15. Officers arrived to find that Wadley had been shot multiple times, but he was conscious and able to provide information about what had transpired.

Tillman fled the scene and was unable to be located until last week. Swainsboro Police Chief Randy Ellison says his department searched for Tillman consistently to no avail, leading SPD to seek assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.

The marshals apprehended Tillman September 29 in a Pooler hotel without incident and transported him to Chatham County Jail. Local officers went to Chatham, picked up the suspect, and brought him back that same day. He remains in custody today.
