Gayla Kersey Douglas, 72

Funeral services for Gayla Kersey Douglas, 72 of Adrian, were held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Harrell officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment followed at Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery. She died Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Scott Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Gayla Kersey Douglas was born October 25, 1949 to the late Earl Cleo and Ruby Lee Rowland Kersey, both of whom preceded her in death. She was an avid magazine reader who had stockpiles of Better Homes and Gardens. Mrs. Douglas loved to sew, cross-stitch, and crochet. She adored her church and was a faithful member. She also loved taking care of her family.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Donald Douglas of Adrian; her daughter, Deanne Douglas Joiner (Daniel) of Kite; her son, Thomas Ashley Douglas (Valerie) of Adrian; her sister, Glynis Kersey of Adrian; her brother, Austin Earl Kersey of Adrian; grandchildren Timothy Hunter Bell, Madison Mae Douglas, and Peyton Evans Douglas; great-grandchild Brooklyn Lynette Bell; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pallbearers were Mark Lumley, Justin Coleman, Wes Douglas, Jason Douglas, Daniel Joiner, and Vince Alfonso.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
