George Christopher Hunnicutt, 72

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial graveside service for George Christopher Hunnicut, 72, resident of Decatur, was held at 12 p.m. on January 30, 2021 at Coleman Cemetery in Twin City with Pastor Joy Wilson officiating. He died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Emory Decatur Hospital.

Mr. Hunnicutt was born in Macon, son of the late George Sidney Hunnicutt and Betty Brown Hunnicutt. He was a member of the Georgia Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, the Georgia Microboard Association, and the 315 Project. He graduated college with a degree in enviromental health. Mr. Hunnicut was a member of Briarcliff Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Jackson Hunnicutt; daughter, Carrie Leigh Hunnicutt Byers (Jason); son, Christopher Aaron Hunnicutt; grandchildren, Caleb Jackson Byers, Lillie Catherine Byers, Hannah Leigh Byers, Canaan Rose Byers, Judson Hunnicutt Byers, and Joshua Robert Daniel Byers; sister-in-law, Elaine Adams Jackson Synder; and brother-in-law, William Dean Synder.
