Georgia Football: Previewing the Rival Florida Gators

By Justin Gray

There is nothing like a good, old fashioned rivalry and the hate that comes with it. It's not a secret that these two teams, universities, and fanbases dislike each other a lot. Both teams have had their success as well as their down years. The Bulldogs are in some of their best years in program history while the Gators are in a transitioning period.

The Gators hired a brand new head coach in the offseason, Billy Napier, who was formerly the head coach at Louisiana-Lafayette. The Gators are off to an inconsistent start with a 4-3 record. Their losses have come to #3 Tennessee, #18 LSU, and #19 Kentucky. They have a major win vs formerly #7 ranked Utah in the first game of the year.

Their offense has looked great at points and terrible at other times. However it’s no secret how good the Dawgs are with their 7-0 record, demolishing teams on the way to that. The Dawgs are ranked #1 in the nation and for good reason. This game is always held in Jacksonville at TIAA Bank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's a neutral site, but is a lot closer to Gainesville than Athens.

The key to this game for the Dawgs will be to get going early and take whatever hope the Gators have to win the game away. Personally, I don’t think the Dawgs will struggle with the Gators, but stupid things happen in rivalry games. The Dawgs also can’t overlook the Gators and look ahead to the big time matchup against Tennessee the following weekend. Georgia vs Florida, Bulldogs vs Gators, kicks off this Saturday at 3:30 P.M.
