Funeral services for Glenda L. Richards, 80 of Swainsboro, were held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Holley officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Church Cemetery, and the family received friends Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. She passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Glenda L. Richards was born June 2, 1941 to the late George Kytle Logan and Lydia Mae Turner Logan. She was a homebody and an avid sports fan who loved the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. She loved to read the Bible, listen to gospel music, and enjoyed word search puzzles. She was a Baptist by faith, and she was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Smokey Richards; infant son, Robert Lanier Richards; sisters, Jeanette Scott and Dorcille Logan; and brothers Eugene Logan and Linton Logan.
Survivors include her son, Byron Carroll of Vidalia; brother, Ronnie Logan of Swainsboro; sister, Judy Chapman of Swainsboro; granddaughter, Lindsey Carroll of Vidalia; great-grandchildren, Isy Reeves and Cam Reeves; special niece, Missy (Gene) Hadden of Swainsboro; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers include R.J. Phillips, Allen Logan, Jim Sherrod, Gene Hadden, Trent Lewis, and George Carter.
Chapman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
