Funeral services for Glynda Hooks, 69 of Kite, were held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Kite Church of God with Reverends Allen Meeks and Lamar Kersey officiating. Interment followed at Kersey Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. She passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Glynda Hooks was born December 26, 1951 in Sandersville to the late Mary Thelma Cooper. She obtained a business degree from Southeastern Technical College in Swainsboro and retired from Roper Industries. She loved going to ball games to watch her grandchildren, attending yard sales, completing jigsaw puzzles, and reading books. Mrs. Hooks was a member at Kite Church of God, and she was preceded in death by her mother, sisters Lynda Smith and Cheryl Lamb, and great-granddaughter Kinley Grace Smisson.
Survivors include her husband, Alton Hooks Sr. of Kite; son, Rock Hooks (Cassie) of Kite; daughter, Tera Claxton (Clifford) of Kite; grandchildren, Chris (Tiffany) Mimbs, Wesley (Racheal) Smisson, Kyle (Courtney) Hooks, Wade (Cheyenne) Claxton, Adam Hooks, Jada Claxton, Gauge Ambrose, and J.D. Ambrose; great-grandchildren, Raelyn Romig, Remington Smisson, Jaxson Smisson, Lincoln Smisson, Hudson Hooks, Katie Carter, and Taylor Carter; special friend, Debra Pate of Wrightsville; and many friends.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
