Goodman Speaks to Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting, Tuesday night, September 6, 2022, at the Rustic Grille at 7:00 with President Dianna Wedincamp presiding. There were 27 in attendance including 2 guests, Calder Ward and Erin Ward. The Key-Lime cake, donated and baked by Cindy Ware, was won by Gary Couse. The Domino's Pizza, donated by Domino's Pizza, was won by Petite Garrett.

Cheryl Goodman presented a framed memorial tribute to Cindy Ware honoring her husband Joe Ware. Joe was recently honored at the Georgia District Kiwanis Convention and the program for the Memorial Service was central to the tribute. He will be missed.

Membership Chair Jane Durden presented new members Glenn and Jill Briercheck with name tags and their membership certificates. Jill is Jane's sister and Glenn is her brother-in-law.

Tim Goodman presented a program about Kiwanis Club communication centered on The Swainsboro Kiwanian, the club bulletin. Tim outlined the process for developing the bulletin, which is e-mailed, and snail mailed to all members of the club. It is also placed on the club website. Dess Smith III explained what happens to the bulletin as it is modified and distributed to the local newspapers and to the Georgia District newsletter. Mary Ellen Smith explained how the bulletin is put on the club's Facebook page. Tim, Dess, and Mary Ellen all noted how important it was for members to get information to them that is not in the bulletin. The club also uses the bulletin and other forms of communication for recruitment of new members. Tim noted they also use texting to communicate, usually through President Dianna, Dess, and Petite Garrett. Tim indicated information from the bulletin and board meetings is communicated to Kiwanis International and the Georgia District via KI's Secretary Dashboard.

A special thanks from Tim to the other members of the communication's team - Dess Smith III, Mary Ellen Smith, Dwight Watt, Jane Durden, Petite Garrett, and President Dianna.
