GSU Wildlife Program visits Franklin Memorial
Georgia Southern University’s Wildlife Program visited Vann Community Center on June 22 as part of the local library’s Summer Reading Program. A crowd of almost 100 people gathered for an exhibit of reptiles and birds.
Included in the show was a screech owl, a tiny bird whose call sounds like a small child; a Eurasian owl, a large bird not native to these parts; several snakes; a box turtle; and Madagascar cockroaches.
Attending children, under the handler’s supervision, bravely touched the animals, and many families took photos with a boa snake.
The Summer Reading Program will continue over the next few weeks. For questions about programming or other library activities, call Franklin Memorial Library at 237-7791.
