Introducing the Akridges

Newlyweds Mr. Brandon and Mrs. Jada Akridge swapped vows at The Gathering Place in Lyons on March 26, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.

With Reverend Tim Price officiating and their family and friends surrounding them, the couple became one in holy matrimony.

The bride, the former Jada Wilkerson, is the 19-year-old daughter of Kimberly Lewis and Craig Collins of Swainsboro and Alan and Tiffany Wilkerson of Wrightsville. Her grandparents include Judy Lewis of Swainsboro, Brenda Wilkerson of Wrightsville, the late Ricky Lewis, and the late Roger Wilkerson.

The groom is the 21-year-old son of Ivy Michelle Kirby and Bryan and Pam Akridge. His grandparents include Jeannie Kirby of Swainsboro, Dennis Akridge of Swainsboro, the late Terrie Averett, and the late Wayne Kirby.

Mr. Akridge and his new wife began dating in September of 2019 and became engaged in February 2021.

The wedding coordinator was Melva Hornsby while the wedding party included maid of honor Mikenzie Rotsaert, bridesmaids Alaina Mclain, Averi Williams, and Janah Hart, and flower girl Sunni Ann Ivey.

Mrs. Akridge’s dress was an ivory color fashion piece with corded floral lace and a flow chiffon skirt with pockets. It had an illusion back finished with buttons.

Her groom wore a khaki colored suit with a white shirt and a sky blue bowtie to match the bridal party’s attire.

The bridal party wore long blue dresses with ruffled sleeves and a V-neck.

Both the bride and groom’s mothers donned sequins with the groom’s mother in a gold dress and the bride’s mother in blue.

At the reception, guests were treated to macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and green bean casserole from Lynn & Bob’s, along with pulled pork cooked at the venue by Dwayne Ivey.

Maxine Garnto of Wrightsville prepared both confections.

The wedding cake was a three-tier vanilla cake with roses, baby’s breath, and greenery inspired by the bride’s bouquet added for decor.

The groom’s cake, on the other hand, was a hunting-themed chocolate cake.

The florist, Marie Brown, decorated the venue in white and pink roses, baby’s breath, and greenery. Centerpieces consisted of clear vases with fresh flower arrangements.

Johnny and Stacy Mills deejayed the event.

The mother–son dance was “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts, the father–daughter dance was “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw, the stepfather–daughter dance was “He Didn’t Have to Be” by Brad Paisley, and the first dance between the newlyweds was “Gray” by Maddie Rean.

The lovebirds were sent off on their honeymoon by sparkler light at the end of the night.

The Akridges celebrated their honeymoon at Panama City Beach. They are moved into their first home together, which they purchased in Swainsboro in January 2022.
