James Johnson, 90

Funeral services for James Johnson, 90, of Twin City were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Sam Bowen officiating. Interment followed at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church. He passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Emanuel Medical Center due to an extended illness.


Mr. James Johnson was born August 20, 1930 in Emanuel County to the late E. H. Johnson and Eliza Wiggins Johnson. He loved to coon hunt and fish, and he was a great role model. Mr. Johnson drove a school bus and worked at Starland Dairy for many years. He was also a farmer and a deacon at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Bennett Johnson; sisters, Ruby Patrick, Marie Craft, Ruth Kent, Betty Woods, and Debbie Price; and brothers, Otis Johnson, Fern Johnson, Joseph Johnson, and Dan Johnson.


Survivors include his daughters, Jane (Charles) Woods and Kathy (Eddie) Woods, both of Twin City, Dell Miller of Swainsboro, and Jennifer (Phillip) Lamb of Wadley; sister, Bernice Williams of Glenville; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.


Pallbearers were Mase Henry, Adam Lane, Tyler Flakes, Chase Whitehead, Gavin Edenfield, David Ellington, and Mike Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Edenfield and Eric Woods.


In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, the 6’ rule was enforced during the visitation and service.


Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
