Funeral services for James Thomas Powell, 82 of Dublin, were held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. Interment followed at Northview Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, January 22, 2022. from 1 to 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. He passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin following an extended illness.
Mr. James Thomas Powell was born February 18, 1939 in Dublin to Robert Lee Powell and Gladys B. Roberson. He liked fishing and hunting, and he especially enjoyed a good fish fry. Mr. Powell was a great artist who loved drawing and making knives. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and his dog, Bentley. Mr. Powell was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 10 years and loved the Lord, his church, and his church family. He was saved July 10, 2007. Mr. Powell served in the U. S. Army, and he was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert L. Powell, and his step-son, Johnny Spicer.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Powell of Dublin; son, Ken Powell of Orlando, Florida; daughters, Nicole Kennison (Chad) of Swainsboro and Kim Wilkins of Orlando; sisters, Betty Ellis of Winter Park, Florida, Wilma Foskey of Dublin, and Janice Donaldson of Augusta; grandchildren, Cameron Kennison (Kristina), Callie Kennison, Natalie Garren (Bobby), Hillari Martin (Gilmore), and Danielle Miller (Ron); five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers were Gabe Best, Brandon Mclean, Landon Cameron, Gene Tolbert, Myles Warnock, and Jimmy Peebles. Honorary pallbearers were the men of Southside Baptist Church.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
