Kersey sentenced to 30 years

Following negotiated pleas in two separate cases heard in Emanuel County Superior Court’s January 2021 term, David Eric Kersey has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.


In the first case, 21CR07, Kersey faced two charges—one count first-degree burglary and one count theft by taking. He negotiated guilty pleas on both charges and was sentenced to a total of 20 years with the first 10 to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also fined $50.


In the second case, 21CR87, Kersey faced two counts second-degree burglary. Again, he negotiated guilty pleas to both counts and sentenced to a total of 10 years. Kersey was also fined $50 for this case.
