Last week, Swainsboro Kiwanis Club continued its long-running tradition of feeding area children who participate in Franklin Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program (SRP).
The group of local Kiwanians prepared a lunch of chips, cookies, and grilled hot dogs at Vans Community House on Tuesday, June 29, at 11 a.m.
Emanuel County Farm Bureau was on hand and presented a program entitled “For the Love of Pets.” A police dog, service dog, therapy dog, and their handlers entertained the 54 children and their parents as well, then lunch was served.
Farm Bureau donated the buns, and Friends of the Library donated drinks.
This lunch is an annual event the Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro provides to the kids for the end of the Summer Reading Program.
