Lady Tigers defeat Lady Vikings 9-1



The Swainsboro Lady Tiger softball team hosted the Lady Vikings from Treutlen County on Monday ,August 23, and came away with a big 9-1 win.

With the score tied 1 -1 in the bottom of the third inning, Bri Parks stepped to the plate and hit her first homerun of the season. The Lady Tigers would go on to score 2 more runs in the inning and led 4-1 after three innings. Swainsboro plated 2 more runs in the fourth inning and 3 more runs in the sixth inning to close out the contest.

Leading hitters for the Tigers were Bri Parks (4-4) and Savannah Hooks (2-4). Hannah Howard, Caley Wilkerson, Millie Hooks, Jocie Hendrix, and Callie Powell each tallied a hit in the win as well.

Callie Powell went the distance in the circle to pick up her first win of the season. She gave up just 2 hits, 1 walk, and 1 unearned run while striking out 4 batters in her 6 innings of work.

The Lady Tigers also have two big region match-ups this week. They hosted the (6-1) Jeff Davis Yellowjackets on Tuesday, August 24, and will travel to East Dublin to face off against the Falcons of East Laurens High School on Thursday. Look for results in a future edition of The Crossroads.
