Lady Tigers score big wins

By Hugh Hendrix

Last week the Swainsboro High School softball team made trips to Jefferson County and Dublin. Both trips resulted in big wins for the Lady Tigers and kept them in second place in Region 2-A Division 1.

On Tuesday, Swainsboro defeated Jefferson County by a score of 11-0. The leading hitters were Gracie Beneteau who was 3-3 (3B) and Savannah Hooks who was 2-3 on the evening. Brianna Parks pitched the complete game two-hitter, picking up her eighth win of the season.

On Thursday afternoon, Swainsboro scored five runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 10-2 win over Dublin. Chasity Adams, Kayla Crabb, and Brianna Parks each collected two hits on the day. Parks once again pitched the complete, five inning game. She gave up just two runs and struck out four batters while giving up five hits and no walks. With the win, Parks improved her pitching record to 9-1 on the season.

Swainsboro now has an overall 14-5 record on the season with a 6-2 record in the region.
