David Emanuel Academy’s varsity football team had last week off, but the younger Eagles took care of business in their playing absence.
DEA’s middle school team hit the road October 12 and traveled to Siloam to take on the Rebels of John Hancock Academy.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 6-0 lead as FaRon Gray went on a 53-yard run for a touchdown. Ethan Fields ran in the extra 2 points to make the score 8-0.
David Emanuel’s next scoring drive involved Karson Kettles receiving a 28-yard touchdown pass from Richard Braddy. The 2-point conversion was unsuccessful, but the Eagles were unfazed as the effort was fruitful enough to put them up 14-0.
Kettles scored DEA’s third touchdown of the night on an 18-yard run. Jace Farmer then hooked up with Tucker Free to tack on 2 more points, and the score was 22-0.
The Rebels would score only once before the game ended, and DEA returned to Stillmore with a 22-6 win.
DEA middle school will wrap up its ’21 season tomorrow, October 21, with an away game at Fullington Academy. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. in Pinehurst.
The varsity team returns to action Friday night with a home game versus Vidalia Heritage Academy. Kickoff is set for 7:30.
