Local church to offer oil changes for single moms

Hawhammock Baptist Church continues to go above and beyond for our community and its residents. Next month, on April 17, 9 a.m. through 2 p.m., the family church is hosting an oil change event for single moms.

Local single moms are encouraged by the church to stop by and bring your car for a free oil change during this time. While your vehicle is having its oil changed, you are encouraged to join the church inside for refreshments. The church will provide coffee, donuts, and prayer for all moms who attend. Also, children may play in the gym during.

Information will be provided to those who want to learn about what Hawhammock Baptist Church has to offer the community through their ministries Awana, youth, and food pantry. Single Moms Oil Change is a new ministry to Hawhammock. “We have heard of other churches across the state doing this ministry. Back in January, we celebrated Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, and I was thinking of other ways we can put action to our pro-life beliefs. We want to be followers of Christ who don't just vote pro-life but advocate for life in as many ways as possible. We believe every child is valuable to God as we see in Psalm 139:14-17,” said Matthew McNeely.

“We plan to check all fluid levels and tire pressure. We will probably have two master mechanics helping, Allen McDaniel and Marcus Boss, as well as a few other men with career mechanic experience,” he added.

Limited spaces are available. Contact or email Hawammock’s office by April 10. Participants must provide car year, make, model, and engine type or VIN number of their car. To register, call McNeely at 478-237-3429 or email him at matthew@hawhammock.org.
