Middle school Bulldogs win two


The middle school Bulldogs continued its winning ways with two victories recently.


On March 10, ECI took on William James and won 12–2, needing only five innings to do it.


The Bulldogs pitched by committee against the Knights. Jackson Kennedy spent 2 innings on the mound and struck out 1. Ab Marsh pitched another 2 innings, and Tyler Foreman threw 1 inning, recording 1 strikeout.


Gunner Johnson was the Bulldogs’ leading hitter versus William James. He went 3-for-3 on the day.


Two ECI players had home runs. Tuff Boddiford was 3-for-4 with 2 long balls while Johnny Baird was 2-for-3 with 1 homer of his own.


Kennedy was 3-for-4 on the day, and Marsh was 2-for-3.


With the win against the Knights, Coach Greg Kennedy’s squad was well poised for a game four days later against Screven County.


The Bulldogs came out strong and finished the drill, 7–5.


Marsh was the winning pitcher. He rung up seven Gamecocks while on the hill.


Boddiford came in and got the save.


Baird was the Bulldogs’ leading hitter during this particular match-up. He went 2-for-4 at the plate.


These two wins moved ECI middle school to an overall record of 7–0 and a region record of 3–0.


The Dawgs were set to rematch against Screven County at home in Twin City last Wednesday, but results were unavailable at press time.


This week, ECI is set to take on Metter on the road on Wednesday and Toombs County on the road on Monday, March 28.
