Mr. Coleman turns 2

Kawhi Coleman celebrated his second birthday among family and friends at DeAlva Park at 4 p.m. on April 24. He turned 2-years-old April 19 of 2022.

Mr. Coleman is the son of Kawaskie and Yveka Coleman. He has one brother, KJ Coleman, and his grandparents include Sandra Johnson of Stillmore, Elizabeth Coleman of Swainsboro, the late Flossie Johnson, and the late Bo Johnson. His great-grandmother is Ruby Marion of Swainsboro.

The theme of the party in honor of Mr. Coleman, a student in Jill Sause’s early head start class, was “Two Fast, Two Curious.” Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friends made up a group of 35 attendees who showered him with gifts, loves, and laughs.

Kim Brown made a red and checkerboard piñata to match the red, yellow, black, and checkerboard garland. Nikki Robinson made a photo booth car, and Sheenika Wilson made all theme-oriented signs. Additionally, matching car-themed plates, cups, and napkins were used at the occasion.

Guests were treated to baked beans, pasta salad, “Come Sea Vee” corn cob, and chicken salad made by the birthday boy’s aunt, Lisa Miler. There were also hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza.

Some foods were made to be on-theme as well. There was chewy bread as dirt roads, Rice Krispies as air bags, fun dip as oil sticks, and Twizzlers as jumper cables. More treats included Cheetos as spark plugs, donuts as spare tires, gumballs as stop lights, and sweet tea to represent motor oil.

According to Mr. Coleman’s mom, the birthday cake was a big hit. The vanilla sheet cake with red, black, and yellow design was made by Tracey Avery.

Entertainment at the event included a bounce house provided by Mr. Coleman’s god-grandmother, Carla Foots. There was also a “paint shop” where guest colored custom second birthday activity/coloring sheets for Mr. Coleman, a car-themed bean bag toss, and chalk for concrete art.

The birthday boy was especially happy to receive a few special gifts. These included a Paw Patrol bumper car from his “Nana,” a Baby Shark tricycle, a table, several pairs of Crocs, other toys, and several cards.
