Mr. Walter Lee Rowland, 74

Mr. Walter Lee Rowland, 74, of Kite passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Community Hospice in Vidalia following an extended illness. Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Reverend Brad McKenzie officiating.

Mr. Rowland was born May 17, 1948, in Swainsboro to the late R. W. Rowland, Jr. and Minnie LaRue Kersey Rowland. Mr. Rowland was owner-operator of Rowland’s Service Station from 1992 to 2021. He enjoyed horseback riding, dancing at the Moose Lodge, and partying with family and friends at the lake on holidays. Mr. Rowland also liked PBR.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Baylor Colt Moore.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Barbara Rowland of Kite; sons, Jeff Rowland (Kaye) of Monroe, NC; J. R. Rowland (Vi) of South Port, NC; daughters, April Purvis (Craig) of Twin City, Pam Gordan of Eatonton, Rhonda Webb (Terry) of Swainsboro, Tammy Carter (Malcolm) of Vinemont, AL; brother, Mike Rowland (Ellen) of Swainsboro; special niece, Ashley King (C.J.) of Kite; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
