Ms. Tawanna LaShonda Burke, 44



Ms. Tawanna LaShonda Burke, 44, of Metter passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at McGraw Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fl, following an extended illness. The graveside service was January 28th, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at Rountree Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Hampton officiating. The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Ms. Burke was born November 26, 1978, in Metter to Johnny Boatright and Lillie Ruth Burke Jenkins. Ms. Burke was a high school graduate who was employed with Walmart Distribution center as a Verifier. She was a member of Life Application Ministries. She was a graduate of Ogeechee Technical College with an associate degree.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Boatright, and brother, William R. Strange.

Survivors include her mother, Lillie Ruth Burke Jenkins of Metter; stepfather, Rickey Jenkins of Metter; life partner, Felles Grant of Metter; brothers, Perry L. Burke of Hope Mills, N.C., Darius S. Burke (Kenosha Sherrod) of Twin City, and Johnny Boatright of Atlanta; sisters, Kia. A. Burke (Cassidy Elliott) of Metter, Dorothy Reese, Brenda Johnson, Denise Jackson, and Melissa Lane, all of Twin City, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Pallbearers were her cousins.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of the arrangements.
