This past weekend took Cooper Riner, a 14-year-old from Swainsboro, to Savannah for his fourth stop along the Under Armour Youth Tour.
The stop on Sunday, May 29, at Crosswinds Golf Club was technically a rescheduled match from May 15. Riner shot a 40 on the day, finishing third in his age division with an eagle on Hole 9 to boot.
With his latest play, Riner solidified the No. 2 position in his age division in the Coastal Georgia Junior Golf Tour powered by Under Armour. As such, he will participate in the summer nationals at PGA National in West Palm Beach, Florida. This five-day event will span June 22 through June 26.
As a recap, Riner won the first match for his age division back in late March. Since then, he has placed second in two other matches, one in mid-April and another in early May. He and his fellow golfers earned points at each stop in hopes of winning a berth to nationals.
Look for an update on Riner’s continued journey in the near future.
He is the 14-year-old son of Kris and JoAnna Riner and Chesley and Bridget Dixon. His “MeMe” is Debbie Riner.
