UGA obliterates South Carolina on the road

The reigning National Champs got off to a great start in SEC play taking down the Gamecocks in Columbia. Coming in everyone knew South Carolina couldn’t match up with the Dawgs, the game was even more of a testament to that.

The offense got the scoring going on a long drive finishing with a Brock Bowers rushing touchdown on a reverse play. The defense was a little shaky on South Carolina's first drive, but it wouldn’t last long as Malaki Starks jumped a wheel route and picked it off returning it to South Carolina’s 43-yard line, giving that hot handed offense the ball. After a long Stetson Bennett run the Dawgs were set up inside the five and Kendall Milton ran it in for a two-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0. South Carolina had nothing going until a fake punt was converted for a first down, but it didn’t take long for that drive to stall. The offense once again drove and punched it in the end zone on a Brock Bowers seven-yard touchdown catch. The Dawgs would soon add a field goal and go into halftime up 24-0.

The second half proved to be more of the same as it was all Dawgs once again. The first touchdown of the half came on a 78-yard receiving touchdown by Bowers for his third total touchdown of the day. The defense did what it has done all year forcing once again another stop.

The Dawgs offense would get another on the board with a Stetson Bennett 11-yard touchdown run. The rest would be garbage time and the Dawgs added ten more and made the score 48-0 before giving up a late touchdown to the Gamecocks to make the final score 48-7. This was the first touchdown the Dawgs defense has given up all season.

The Dawgs offense went ballistic with 547 total yards to South Carolina’s 306 yards. Quarterback Stetson Bennett threw for 284 yards and Brock Bowers had 121 receiving yards on five receptions and as mentioned earlier 3 total touchdowns. The Dawgs are the most complete team in the country and are ranked number one. They host Kent State this Saturday for noon kickoff.
