Romanis Norwood, age 96, was called home from his earthly labors to his eternal rest, to a land free from sickness, pain and sorrow on Thursday, February 5, 2026. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, February 14, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Wiggins officiating and Elder D.G. Mosely presiding.

Romanis was born August 25, 1929, in Soperton, to the late Annie B. Williams. He later moved to Swainsboro where he received his education in the Emanuel County School system and was known for his strong aptitude in mathematics. Romanis retired from Roper/AYP where he worked as Shift Supervisor and later continued his strong work ethic at Merrion’s Dry Cleaners for several years. Mr. Norwood is preceded in death by his mother; beloved wife, Bernie “Lady” Norwood; son, Joe Norwood; daughter, Gloria Norwood; four brothers; and three sisters.

Mr. Norwood leaves to cherish his memories with his daughter, Dorothy McKelvin; sons, Tommy (Doris) Norwood, Charles Norwood, Eddie (Jacquelyn) Sampson, Jimmy (Vivian) Sampson and Gerry Newsome; son-in-law, James Dawson; five siblings; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
