Mr. Roy Wayne Folds, age 80, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center. Memorial services were held Friday, December 19, at 2 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1 p.m., at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Black officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Richard Williams, Lynward Hooks, Elmer Thompson, Mike Brannon and Wallace Lamb.
Wayne was born March 14, 1945, in Cordele, to the late Leroy Childers and Elizabeth “Miss Lib” Rentfrow Folds. He attended Armstrong University and later Georgia Southwestern College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting while serving in the National Guard. Wayne was a former Deacon and a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a member of the Emanuel County Sportsman Club and the Exchange Club, the latter for which he served as President in 1999. Wayne retired from Swainsboro Technical College as the Vice President of Administrative Services after working there for many years.
In his free time, Wayne loved hunting and freshwater fishing, but nothing brought him greater joy than having his children and grandchildren with him. He especially enjoyed deep-sea fishing, finding excitement and peace on the open water, whether casting lines offshore or sailing the intercoastal waterways of Georgia and Florida with his wife, Linda. In his early retirement, he found great joy in woodworking, spending many hours in his shop building Adirondacks and small wooden chairs. Later in life, Wayne spent countless hours birdwatching from his back porch. Mr. Folds is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Elaine Folds Jacob and Denise Folds Lamb.
Mr. Folds is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Mitchell Folds of Swainsboro; children, Tammy Thomas Spires (Anthony Vairetta) of Macon, Rodney Wayne Folds and Kim Folds (Ryan) Price, all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Zachary Childers (Ashley) Folds, Zeth Cameron Kerby Folds and Zhen Carson Elizabeth Folds; great-grandson, Miller Wayne Folds; siblings, Jimmy (Evelyn) Folds of Tifton, Belinda (Jody) Griffin of Cordele and Gerald (Lyn) Folds of Roopville; two lifelong friends, Andy Pless and Pat Posey; and many nieces and nephews.
