Durden Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Samuel “Sambo” Hooks, age 86, of Twin City, who passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his residence. Memorial service was conducted Monday, March 3, at 1 p.m. at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating. Mr. Hooks is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Albert Hooks and Mamie Parham Hooks; wife, Willa Dene Oglesby Hooks; brothers, W.A. Hooks, Jerry Hooks, Ronald Hooks and Tommy Hooks; sisters, Edith Willis and Yvonne Chester.
Survivors include his son, Greg Hooks of Statesboro; daughters, Donna Hooks of Twin City and Tracy Trull (Billy) of Twin City; grandchildren, Taylor Trull and Austin Trull; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Durden Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
