Sandra Lee Dorsey, age 80, of Swainsboro, passed away Thursday evening, June 5, 2025, at Community Hospice of Vidalia. Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 9, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Swainsboro with The Reverend Dr. Craig Williamson officiating. Interment followed in the Westview Cemetery in Soperton. Family received friends Monday, June 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Swainsboro.

Serving as pallbearers were Alyssa Dorsey, Zach Abell, Ashley Abell, Alex Dorsey, Robin Spivey and Randy Dorsey. Honorary escorts were the members of the Agape and Fidelis ladies Sunday School classes.

Sandra was born October 13, 1944, in Swainsboro, to the late William and Nell Durden. While attending high school, she met her future husband, Jimmy (Kinny) Dorsey at the record shop in Swainsboro. After graduation, they married on July 28, 1963.

Sandra’s love for God and his Word was evident by her love for people and readiness to serve sacrificially. She served on care teams and taught Sunday School at multiple churches for a wide range of ages spanning many decades. Sandra’s ability to cultivate friendships and relationships in all stages of life was incredible. Her joy for life and her friendly personality was contagious to those around her. Renowned for her warm hospitality and Lemon Cheesecake, Sandra hosted many Sunday School parties and especially enjoyed the Christmas Season. Because of her sincere interest in and love for people, Sandra was in return, highly regarded and dearly loved in the different communities in which she served. She was always a hard worker whether at home or work. Sandra held many positions during her working career and had great fondness for her time as a manager of a local radio station in Reidsville and as a small business owner with her husband in Lincolnton.

Sandra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nandy) and friend. She was always willing to help anyone in need and was especially attentive to her grandchildren. Mrs. Dorsey is preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her husband, Jimmy McKinley Dorsey of Swainsboro; son, Bryan McKinley Dorsey (Julie) of Toccoa; daughter, Sherry Dorsey Abell (Barry) of Townsend; four grandchildren, Alyssa Dorsey, Zachary Abell (Mandy), Ashley Abell and Alexander Dorsey; brothers, Larry Durden and Bill Durden; sister, Paulette Glasscock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Swainsboro First Baptist Church or charity of choice honoring Sandra Lee Dorsey.

Sammons Funeral Home and Tomlinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
