The Four Rivers Patriots Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held its monthly meeting Thursday night, January 16, at Chatters Restaurant in Lyons at 7 p.m. With Vice President Joel Keener presiding, they had 24 in attendance. After the invocation by Chaplain Emory Fennell, the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR, Vice President Joel Keener asked the East Fall Line Region Vice President to introduce the Georgia Society President Ed Rigel, Jr. President Ed updated the Chapter on this year’s State Society and brought “greetings”. Dess then presented Sgt-at-Arms Dan Brown the chapter Flag Streamer from the “Fort Morris, Come and Take it” event where he had presented the Chapter wreath. Vice President Joel then read out the newly established Four Rivers Patriots Ned Shumer Distinguished Service Award with certificate and medal, presented to Dean Mills. President Steve DeWeil selected Registrar/Treasurer Dean Mills to receive this award for the most outstanding member of the Four Rivers Patriots Chapter. Joel then presented Dess Smith III and Dean Mills with the “Certificate of Appreciation” certificate and medal, then asked Dess to introduce the Georgia Society Senior Vice President who installed the Four Rivers Patriots President and Officers for 2025; President Joel Keener, Vice President William Sanders, Secretary Al Johnson, Registrar/Treasurer Dean Mills, Chaplain Emory Fennell, Sgt-at-Arms Dan Brown and Editor/Genealogist Dess Smith III.
