Sidney Luke Smith, Jr., age 86, transitioned to eternal life on Thursday, November 27, 2025. A Celebration of Life was held Thursday, December 4, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah AME Church with Rev. Jerlyn Smith Hudson officiating. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Sidney was born June 21, 1939, in Swainsboro, to the late Sidney Luke Smith, Sr. and Mattie Bell Fye Smith. He worked various jobs to include Carl Lawson Pulpwood Company, Elroy Turpentine Company, Dart Drug and Roses, until his retirement in 2001. Sidney never met a stranger and was the life of the party. He would always tell jokes, had a smile on his face and enjoyed dancing. Sidney had a love for cars and was always working on one for himself or lending a helping hand to someone in need. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents; David L. Smith, Sr.; Patty M. Smith; and daughter, Jacqueline Smith Johnson.

Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his memories with his daughters, Annie Bell Heard, Cynthia Shedrick and Pamela Everidge; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
