The Citizens Bank of Swainsboro is pleased to announce that William E. (Bill) Simmons was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors during their 2024 organizational meeting. Mr. Simmons has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1988 and has been actively involved in banking, real estate development, and commercial construction during his long and successful career.

“We are proud to have Bill to fill the vacancy left after the loss of Denny Key as our Chairman,” said President Milton Gray. “He has a lot of banking knowledge and has been a mentor to me during my banking career.” Mr. Simmons resides in Swainsboro and is married to Marcie N. Simmons. They have a son Wes Simmons, daughter Jessica Collins, and four grandchildren, Cody, Ashlyn, Marylee, and Maggie.

Zachary D. (Zac) Frye was also named Executive Vice-President and will assume additional responsibilities for the overall management of the bank. “Zac has proven to be a tremendous asset to the bank, and we are preparing him for enhanced leadership roles in the future,” said Mr. Gray. Mr. Frye has fifteen years of banking experience and will complete his third and final year of rigorous instruction at The Graduate School of Banking at LSU in May. He resides in Swainsboro and is married to Leah Lanier Frye. They have three children, Ansley, Avery, and Aubrey.

In addition to Mr. Simmons, other elected members of the bank’s Board of Directors are Milton Gray, Jeff Cannon, Gary Johnson, Minton Hester, Steve Rushing, and Ben Ross. The Citizens Bank of Swainsboro is locally owned and operated with a family of banks located in Swainsboro, Dublin, and Statesboro.
