Strong hitting not enough as David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles Fall to Portal Varsity Panthers

David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles fell 6-5 to Portal Varsity Panthers on Wednesday despite out-hitting them six to five. Tucker Free, Cooper Riner, Layton Terwilliger, Sailor Powell, Brody Fleming, and Richard Braddy each collected one hit for David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles.

David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Paxton Dixon grounded out, scoring one run, and Powell doubled, scoring two runs.

Portal Varsity Panthers tied the game in the bottom of the second and took the lead in the bottom of the third.

Sailor Powell went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Clayton Hood stole two bases. David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game and stealing four bases.

Despite a strong effort, the Eagles came up short with a final score of 6-5.
