The Fall Line Chapter Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting Tuesday night, February 10, at the Chamber of Commerce Building in Sandersville, at 7 p.m. With President Sandy Mercer presiding, they had nine in attendance. President Sandy led the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the Sons of the American Revolution, then asked Chaplain Ken Lindsey to say the invocation. President Sandy then asked the East Fall Line Region Vice President Dess Smith III to introduce the speaker, President of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution Bill Tankersley, who was just installed on February 7. President Bill’s presentation was on “A Horse named Independence”. After the presentation, President Sandy talked to the Chapter about the upcoming monument that will bear the names of all 69 Revolutionary War Patriots that are buried in Washington County to be placed on the Washington County Courthouse square on July 3. There will be a ceremony with Compatriots dressed in Continental uniforms and Militia Uniforms. Sandy also told the Chapter that they have already started working on the Wreaths Across America 2026 that will be placed on Veterans graves in Washington County on December 19, 2026. This past year, Washington County had over 1,000 Wreaths placed on veteran’s graves in the county. Sandy mentioned the upcoming 247th Anniversary Battle of Brier Creek event taking place in Screven County on February 27 & 28 at the battlefield. For more information, call President Sandy at 478-232-7280.
