Since 2018, the Taylor Nicole Hooks Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to seniors attending schools in Emanuel County who exemplify character and honor. Throughout the years since Taylor’s tragic passing in 2017, her family has stopped at nothing to honor her name through multiple fundraisers and events. Taylor was a driven student who stopped at nothing to get to the top. Her goal – pharmacy school. Due to Taylor’s huge interest in education, her family knew a scholarship would be the best way to honor her. Each year, seniors at DEA, ECI, and SHS receive a packet to fill out with a questionnaire regarding future plans and a one-page essay with a certain topic. Applications for the Taylor Nicole Hooks Memorial Scholarship will be presented to high school seniors by their counselors, and the winners will be announced on Honor’s Day at each individual school.

Different fundraisers have been held since the loss of Taylor. Hats and t-shirts were sold with Taylor’s initials on them to raise money along with a barrel race due to Taylor’s infatuation with horses. The biggest fundraiser that has been held, though, is the annual Turkey Shoot. This year, the annual Taylor Nicole Hooks Scholarship Shoot will be held on May 10, 2025 at 5 p.m. The family encourages all to attend.

“It’s for a great cause and is extremely family-oriented. We have food for days and hold raffles. These raffles include baskets with donations from businesses along with a few guns. Like every year, we plan to go around to different businesses and ask for donations for these baskets to be raffled off at the shoot,” stated Debbie Riner, Taylor’s grandmother.

For more information or to make a donation, please contact:

The Taylor Nicole Hooks Scholarship Shoot will be held on May 10, 2025 at 2416 GA Highway 56 S, Swainsboro, GA, 30401 at 5 p.m. Come join the fun!
