After an intersquad red and white scrimmage at home, the Bulldogs traveled to Vidalia Friday to play in their annual scrimmage game against the Indians. The 3-quarter varsity scrimmage ended in a 14-14 tie. The Indians took the lead scoring on their first drive to lead ECI 7-0. The ECI defense held Vidalia scoreless for the rest of the half. The Bulldog offense got in gear and put points on the board in the first half. Jackson Kennedy hit Daon Bethea streaking in the middle of the field for a 46-yard touchdown pass. Kennedy’s kick split the uprights to tie the game 7-7. Both teams remained scoreless the rest of the half taking a 7-7 tie into the locker rooms. The Indians put 7 on the board in the third quarter to lead ECI 14-7. Like in the first half, the Bulldogs fought back to tie the game. Kennedy hit a wide open Valden Kirkland at the 10 taking it into the endzone for a 41-yard touchdown to knot the game 14-14. The Bulldogs got the ball inside the Indian 5-yard line in the third quarter, set up by a Kennedy to Malcolm Kirkland 26-yard pass. Vidalia held on 4 downs taking over on downs at the one. The format for the fourth quarter had the two JV teams running 10 offenses plays each with the clock off. The Bulldogs failed to score running their 10 plays. The Indians’ JV scored on the tenth and last play of the quarter on a broken play to take the quarter 7-0. The Bulldogs rushed for 81 yards with Tyler Foreman leading the way with 37 yards. Other Bulldogs adding to the rushing total was Ab Marsh with 21, Malcolm Steele 12 and Chase Johnson 11 yards. Jackson Kennedy spread the passes around hitting 5 different receivers for 150 yards with two touchdowns. Daon Bethea led the receiving corps with 46 yards and a touchdown. Vaiden Kirkland was right behind with 41 yards with a touchdown. Malcolm Steele had 26 yards, Tyler Foreman 25 yards and Chase Johnson with 12 yards receiving. Ab Johnson led the Bulldogs on defense with 7 solo tackles with a quarterback sack.

The Bulldogs open up the regular season this Friday at Rountree Stadium against Wilcox Co. ECI defeated the Patriots in Rochelle last season 13-7 in overtime.
