After committing a total of just one error over the previous four games, the Swainsboro defense had a rough game at Savannah Christian last Tuesday night, September 18. Pitchers Chloe Boulineau and Ariel Tapley combined to allow three earned runs on eight hits in the game but four very costly errors by the defense led to a couple of big innings in the 11-0 loss. Kayla Crabb, Sara Smith, Izzy Baird and Kyleigh Hostilo recorded hits for Swainsboro.

On Monday, September 23, Swainsboro traveled to Metter for a non-region contest. Metter came into the game with an 11-4 record and ranked #4 in the state in 1A DII. The match-up between the Swainsboro Tigers and the Metter Tigers featured solid pitching performances and exceptional defense by both teams. Despite out-hitting Metter seven to five, Swainsboro fell short in the run column and lost by a final score of 3-1. Swainsboro was led offensively by Sara Smith who had two hits in her three at-bats. Gracie Beneteau, Kayla Crabb, Berklie Bishop, Ariel Tapley and Kyleigh Hostilo also collected one hit each for Swainsboro. Chloe Boulineau turned in another solid performance from the pitcher’s circle, going six innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk.

Swainsboro was scheduled to travel to St. Vincent’s Academy in Savannah on Thursday, but that game has been moved up to today, Wednesday, September 25, to hopefully avoid rain that is in the forecast. The Lady Tigers will travel to Vidalia next Monday, September 30, to make up a game that was rained out earlier in the season. Vidalia will then come to Swainsboro on Tuesday, October 1. All game times are 6 p.m.
