The Brier Creek Artillery, also known as the “Skunk Brigade”, of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution attended the National Civil War Artillery Association Class to be certified for two years in Artillery. The Instructor and Inspecting Officer was Elaine W. Wallace. The event was held on Saturday, May 25, at the Reynolds Clubhouse at 8 p.m. The Class lasted for four hours with instruction, hands on procedures with four six-pounder cannons and a final written test. Safety was at the fore front and emphasized in every step. There were 16 in attendance including Commander Steve Burke, Lee Herron, Dess Smith III, Alton Reynolds, Gary Mason, Jerry Lawson, Don Bazemore, Bernard Martin, Bernard Martin II, Benjamin Martin, Cam Quick, Emil Decker, Alton McCloud, Ted Walker, Jared Ogden and Stephen Weaver.
