Alexa Jukes and Wanda Thompson Scarboro took top honors at the 35th Georgia National Fairground and Agricenter in Perry the week of October 3-13.

Alexa, the 14-year-old daughter of Chris and Brandi Jukes, was the Grand Champion in the Junior Invitation Hereford Breed. This is her 3rd year participating in this event. Her 900-pound cow ‘Red’ was purchased from Mead Cattle Enterprises in Midville. The Mead Family has been breeding Herefords for over 40 years. Alexa is also the Georgia Hereford Princess. She is a student at David Emanuel Academy.

Wanda won the Award of Excellence in Monochrome Photography with her entry entitled ‘My Baby Doll’. She was competing with 560 other entries. All entries were on display at the Miller-Murphy-Howard Building for the week.

The 2024 Perry Fair had the second highest attendance in its history with 545,382 attendees.
