Wiley “Buddy” Marvin Riner, Jr., age 72, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026. A service to honor his life will be held Sunday, February 1, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory, with a visitation for family and friends being held one hour prior to service.

Marvin was born September 13, 1953, in Swainsboro, to Wiley Marvin Riner, Sr. and Julia Loyd Riner. He attended Swainsboro High School. Following graduation, Marvin entered the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Guam at Andersen Air Force Base/SAC. Marvin was proud to serve his country and formed lifelong friendships and memories during his service.

Marvin later attended Macon Technical School where he earned an associate degree in machining. He retired from McCann Aerospace Machining Corporation of Macon/Athens, where he worked as a quality control inspector. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting, playing guitar, collecting movies, writing, and riding motorcycles. Marvin dearly loved his cats and had a natural gift as an “animal whisperer.” He was always ready to tell a story or a joke that could always render laughter. Marvin leaves a legacy of making a difference in the lives of all who knew and loved him through his kindness and his love of life. Mr. Riner is preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Riner is survived by his wife, Kathy Jenkins Riner of Reynolds, Georgia; son, Christopher Riner (Michelle) of Roberta; grandson, Braylon Riner (Kalaylah) of Culloden; granddaughters, Skylar Riner and Brittany Parrish; great-grandson, Gage; great-granddaughters, Finley and Bowen Riner; sisters, Audrey Canady of Aurora, Colorado and Sheila McRae (Bruce) of Byron; nephews, Clint Canady (Christina) and Brandon Canady (Crystal), both of Aurora, Colorado; and great-nephews, Connor, Cooper and Cayde.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Marvin’s name.

With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory is entrusted with arrangements.
