The Veterans at The Library held the 4th Annual Wreaths Across America event at the Swainsboro City Cemetery. With the help of the citizens of Emanuel County, over 2,600 wreaths were placed on veteran’s graves in over 35 cemeteries in Emanuel County. At the Swainsboro City Cemetery, 705 wreaths were placed. The groups participating in the program were Chair Johnny Tapley, Rev. James Mason, Veteran John Torpy, Scotty Nasworthy, Librarian Shari Watt, ROTC units from Swainsboro High School and ECI, Bugler Billy Sasser, Swainsboro Fire Department with their ladder truck and large U.S. Flag, and the Brier Creek Artillery consisting of three six pounder cannons that fired nine shots. The Brier Creek Artillery is part of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution. Wreaths will be picked by up on January 10, 2026.
