Alexander “AK” Kirkland, age 41, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, following a brief illness. Funeral service was held Saturday, November 11, at 11 a.m. at Mosley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor M. Bell officiating. Interment followed in Stillmore Cemetery.

Alexander was born October 9, 1982, in Augusta, to Willie L. Newton and the late Eliza Kirkland. He attended Emanuel County Institute. AK worked as a chef for most of his life, employed with Bevrick’s and The Rustic Grill. He loved basketball, music, cooking and most of all, his children. Mr. Kirkland is preceded in death by his mother; and grandmother, Susie LeMore.

Mr. Kirkland leaves to cherish his memories with his father; fiancé, Martina Worthen; children, Xavier Kirkland, Alexander Kirkland Jr., Kennedy Kirkland, Zayne Kirkland, Liberty Kirkland and Sevyn Kirkland; bonus daughter, Heaven Worthen; sisters, Chassidy Newton and Chequana Newton; brothers, Treylan L. Newton, Cortez Newton, Antonio Newton and Michael Jones; aunts, Gussie (Willie) Mills, Frankie (Gary) Kirkland, Annie Ruth Kirkland, Josephine Kirkland, Lizzie Kirkland and Josie Kirkland, uncles, Walter (Ann) Newton, Tommy Newton and Perry Newton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
