Annette Overstreet Lindsey, 89

Annette Overstreet Lindsey, age 89, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Southern Manor in Statesboro surrounded by her family. Funeral Services were held Sunday, August 23, in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Tidwell officiating. Family received friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matt Lindsey, Zach Lindsey, Ty Whitaker, Wayne Rountree, Jeff Overstreet and Tim Garrett.

Annette was born October 20, 1936, in the Dellwood community of Emanuel County, to the late Elijah Lee Overstreet and Emma Lee Scott Overstreet. She and her younger sister, Kathleen, grew up learning the values of hard work and discipline by helping in their parent’s general store in Dellwood. Shortly after graduating from Swainsboro High School in 1954, Annette met the love of her life, Bobby Franklin Lindsey, from Kite. Annette and Bobby were married on May 12, 1957, and shared more than 50 years together until Bobby’s passing in 2008.

Annette loved being outdoors and spending time in her yard, either tending to her many flowers or simply watching birds. She enjoyed keeping her property up and it was always in immaculate condition. Annette was famous for her pound cakes and loved being able to cook for her family. She devoted more than forty years of service as a bank teller to Citizens Bank of Swainsboro and Spivey State Bank. Annette was a longtime member of the Calvary Methodist Church in Swainsboro. Mrs. Lindsey is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Franklin Lindsey; and sister, Kathleen Lee.

Survivors include her two sons, Steve Lindsey (Kathy) of Macon and Bill (Sharri) Lindsey of Statesboro; three grandchildren, Matt (Molly) Lindsey, Zach (Cady) Lindsey and Mary Katherine (Ty) Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Weston Whitaker, Jackson Whitaker, Kooper Whitaker, Ada Lindsey, Anderly Lindsey and Caden Lindsey; sister-in-law, Jackie Lindsey; and several cousins.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Southern Manor Senior Living and Georgia Hospice for the loving and compassionate care provided to Annette. The family also wishes to thank the caregivers who made it possible for Annette to remain in her home for as long as possible: Judy Walters, Shannon Givens, Tracey Watson, Tarnea Brown and Tameka Freeman.
