The Bulldogs Middle School baseball team played two games last week. Tuesday, they beat the Trojans from Wrightsville 18-5, and played to a 3-3 tie against William James Middle School last Wednesday. William Kennedy started on the mound against Johnson Co., pitching two and 1/3 innings allowing just two hits, no earned runs with five strikeouts. Hane Henry pitched the final three and 2/3 innings, giving up just three hits with seven strikeouts. Leading hitters for the game were Jacob Hughes three for four with two doubles and Kennedy, also 3-4. Judson Underwood was 2-5, three RBI with a double. TJ Weaver had the big blow in the game with a walk off grand slam, going 2-4 with four RBI.

Wednesday, the Bulldogs traveled to Statesboro to take on William James Middle School. The two teams played to a 3-3 tie with the game called due to darkness because William James does not have lights on their baseball field. The Bulldogs led 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. WJ scored an unearned run in the sixth and two more unearned runs in the seventh. The young Dawgs gave William James extra time at the plate committing seven errors in the game which let William James back into the game. The errors were the difference in the game with both Bulldog pitchers allowing just one hit each during the game. Hughes started the game, giving up just one hit with six strikeouts in four innings. Underwood closed out the final three innings, also giving up one hit, striking out six William James batters. Four Bulldogs had one hit each during the game. Underwood with a HR, Jack Lee with a double, Hughes and Kennedy with singles had the hits for ECI.
