The Emanuel County Board of Education met on Tuesday, December 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office with the following members in attendance: John Allen Bailey, Del Brown, Cherie Hooks, Brandon Jones, Tanya Lane, Johnny Parker and Sandra Swinney. Chairman Del Brown welcomed everyone calling the meeting to order. Johnny Parker then delivered the invocation followed by Sandra Swinney leading the Pledge of Allegiance. John Allen Bailey made a motion to approve the agenda. Johnny Parker seconded the motion. John Allen Bailey, Del Brown, Cherie Hooks, Brandon Jones, Tanya Lane, Johnny Parker and Sandra Swinney voted “yes”. CARRIED.

SUPERINTENDENT’S COMMENTS

1. November Awards for F.A.M.I.L.Y., P.A.U.S.E. and S.A.S. – Ms. Tammy Gray recognized the following recipients: November 2023, F.A.M.I.L.Y Stephanie Crapps – Third Grade Teacher at SES; P.A.U.S.E. Demello Jones–Senior Student at SHS; S.A.S. Claudia Arledge – School Nutrition Bookkeeper at BOE.

2. ESPLOST VI Projects Update- Jansen Ware

3. GEMA-HS School Safety-Threat Bulletin- Jansen Ware

DISCUSSION OF CONSENT AGENDA

The Consent Agenda was presented and approved as follows:

1. Minutes of the November 14, 2023 Regular Board Meeting

2. Financial Reports – Mollie Smith

3. 2024 Proposed BOE Meeting Calendar

4. Reserve Fund and ESPLOST Capital Outlay Projects Proposal-Mollie Smith

5. Tabled the East Georgia Healthcare Center, Inc. Office Lease Agreement

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – None

EXECUTIVE SESSION

EMPLOYMENTS:

The Board approved the employment of the following classified employees: Thompson, Richard Seth – Paraprofessional – SHS – 11/29/2023 – NCIC Complete; Ferry, Lily – Custodian – SPS – 1/2/2024 – NCIC Incomplete; Wren, Angelia – SFS – ECI – 12/11/2023 – NCIC Complete

RESIGNATIONS / RETIREMENTS:

The Board approved the resignations of the following classified employees: Rogers, Alexandria – Paraprofessional – SPS – 12/15/2023

The Board approved the resignations of the following certified employees: Lambert, Madison – Teacher – SHS – 11/15/2023
