The ECI baseball team began their region schedule last Tuesday in Darien in the first game of a three-game series against McIntosh Co. The series ended Friday with a double header at Joe Harvey Field. The Bulldogs started region play with a bang, sweeping the Buccaneers, winning all three games. They blanked the Bucs in six innings on Tuesday 11-0. Then on Friday, ECI ended the game in five innings with a 13-0 shut out and sent the fans home early in the second game of the doubleheader with a 15-0 wipeout in four innings. The Bulldogs exploded for seven runs in the top of the first inning in the game on Tuesday and ended the series scoring seven runs in the fourth inning of the third game on Friday. The Bulldogs were teeing off against the Buccaneer pitching scoring 39 runs on 36 hits. The ECI pitching staff yielded just five total hits to McIntosh batters, recording 26 strikeouts. The defense was also on target committing just one error during the series.

Gabe Lee started the game in Darien giving up just two hits, striking out seven. Hudson Henry relieved, skunking the Bucs with no hits or walks. Andrew Chalkley started the first game on Friday allowing three hits while striking out 11 Buccaneer batters. Charlie Rehberg closed out the series with a no hitter in the second game of the double header and was just three walks away from a perfect game. Leading hitters during the three games were Hudson Henry with seven hits including a homerun, Gabe Lee with six hits, Tuff Boddiford and Jackson Kennedy with five hits each. Ab Marsh and Kanyon Thompson ended with three hits, and Andrew Chalkley had two hits.

The Bulldogs continue their region schedule this week with Jenkins County. Tuesday, they hosted the Eagles in the first game. Friday they will travel to Millen for a double header against Jenkins to complete the three-game series.
