The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Calvary Methodist Church Social Hall Monday morning, July 29, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 44 in attendance. The Calvary Methodist Church missions committee fed the veterans biscuits with sausage gravy, grits, homemade brown sugar and cinnamon muffins, cranberry-orange muffins, fresh fruit bowl and coffee and Shari Watt provided grape juice, apple juice and orange juice. Chair Johnny talked about several things including 2024 Wreaths Across America project, U.S. Flags that were flying incorrectly or not at all on flag poles in Swainsboro, helping people to register to vote and actually voting, and veterans attending the Swainsboro City Council meetings, Emanual County Commissioners meetings and the Emanuel County Board of Education meetings each month. The veterans need to get involved in what is taking place in Emanuel County. The next meeting will be at the library and the program will be presented by Ken Warnock from the Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce.
